HOUSTON — July 15, 2025 — North American calcium chloride prices climbed sharply in the second quarter of 2025. By quarter-end, the price of calcium chloride (74–77% technical grade) delivered in Texas reached USD 326 per metric ton, reflecting a stable upward trend. The increase was driven by strong construction-sector offtake, higher calcium carbonate input costs, and occasional supply tightness from planned manufacturer shutdowns.
The US calcium chloride market was valued at USD 487.6 million in 2025, representing roughly 84.3% of North American revenues. De-icing remained the largest application, but oil and gas drilling fluids and concrete acceleration gained share as infrastructure projects expanded. Calcium chloride's role in speeding concrete curing in cold weather allowed contractors to maintain schedules on highways, bridges, and large commercial builds.
In the oilfield, calcium chloride brines stabilized shale formations during drilling and completion operations. The United States remained the world's largest importer of calcium chloride, reinforcing its structural dependence on foreign supply even as domestic brine operations ran at capacity.
